Overview

Callio Earthworks, a division of Pratt Home Builders, is seeking skilled heavy equipment operators experienced in site development and grade work. Qualified candidates must have 5+ years of experience operating dozers, excavators, motor graders, off-road dump trucks, etc. Experience constructing/grading new roads, building pads, and stormwater is a must. Experience laying sewer and utilities is a plus. Employment is year-round, long-term, stable, and local with 50+ hour weeks being the norm.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely and skillfully operate dozers, excavators, motor graders, and off-road dump trucks.

• Adjust equipment settings and techniques for different soil conditions, slopes, and site specifications.

• Perform fine grading for building pads and roadways with a high level of accuracy.

• Prepare construction sites for home foundations, roads, and infrastructure per engineering plans.

• Create smooth, level surfaces that meet slope, elevation, and drainage requirements.

• Build and grade new access roads, subdivision streets, and building pads from the ground up.

• Compact materials and apply finishing techniques to ensure stable, long-lasting surfaces.

• Perform pre- and post-operation checks on all machinery.

• Identify and report mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly to minimize downtime.

• Work closely with foremen, other equipment operators, and laborers to ensure efficient workflow.

• Follow detailed instructions and site plans while adapting to evolving job site conditions.

• Maintain a safe work environment by following OSHA guidelines and company-specific safety procedures.

• Operate machinery with full awareness of surroundings, underground lines, and personnel.

Qualifications

• Be proficient operating dozers, excavators, motor graders, etc.

• Be able to construct/grade new roads, building pads, and water retention ponds to within +/- 0.2’ of specified grade using traditional controls.

• Understand and interpret site plans and design/set grades to accomplish task off of staking and benchmarks

• Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals and with attention to surroundings

• Be goal-oriented and accountable with personnel management skills and attention to detail

• Be drug-free and remain drug-free during the duration of employment.

• Must E-verify with two valid forms of ID. Must pass a background check. (No Felonies)

• Tolerate working in dust, dirt, loud noise, rain, and hot or cold climates

• Be able to properly lift 50lbs. Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.

• Be willing to work 50+ hours per week including overtime and weekends.

• Keep all work areas clean and orderly, informing management promptly of any safety concerns. Must comply to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines

• Report directly to the supervisor or foreman in a timely manner and to worksite or meetings as directed

• Have a clean driving record with a valid state driver’s license (3-year MVR)

• Have a High school diploma/GED and/or Trade.
