Pratt Home Builders Partners with Crabtree Farms to Support Emerging Farmer Program Chattanooga, TN
Pratt Home Builders is proud to announce a new community partnership with Crabtree Farms, supporting the Mary Navarre Moore Emerging Farmer Mentorship Program through the construction of a dedicated storage and prep space. This space will provide essential resources including running water, cold storage, and a mini processing station, furthering Crabtree Farms’ mission to equip early-career farmers with the tools and training they need to succeed.
The Mary Navarre Moore Emerging Farmer Mentorship Program provides a 12–36 month pathway for aspiring farmers to gain land access, learn sustainable farm management techniques, and build community connections. Now in its second growing season, the first cohort of four emerging farmers is already making an impact on Chattanooga’s local food system.

The new storage and prep facility, built by Pratt Home Builders, will serve as a vital hub for the program’s participants, giving them the infrastructure to wash, store, and process crops while also ensuring a safe and efficient workspace

Since our inception in 1998, we have been continually learning and growing through the joys and challenges of urban farming, says Cherita Rice, Crabtree’s Marketing & Communications Coordinator. As a nonprofit farm, we are taking our vision for sustainable farming and community development to the next level through the Emerging Farmer Mentorship Program. In this program, four aspiring farmers have access to land, tools, and resources to start their own farming journeys.
With this collaboration, Pratt Home Builders and Crabtree Farms continue to champion sustainability, education, and community resilience in Greater Chattanooga.
