Some places make a great weekend getaway. Chattanooga makes you wonder what it would be like to stay.

Maybe it’s the mountain scenery on your morning drive. The afternoon that starts with a riverfront stroll and turns into dinner at a new favorite restaurant. Or the first pumpkins on a neighbor’s porch, reminding you that another season of traditions is just beginning.

If you’re looking for things to do in Chattanooga this fall, there’s plenty to put on your calendar. And if you’re thinking about moving to Chattanooga, consider this a little preview of life here.

At Pratt Home Builders, we believe finding a home starts with discovering a place you love. Here are five ways to experience the Scenic City this season.

Bring Fall Home at The Barn Nursery

Every good fall porch starts somewhere. In Chattanooga, The Barn Nursery is a fun place to find your inspiration.

Browse pumpkins, seasonal plants and colorful mums, then imagine how you could pull everything together at home. A pair of planters by the front door. Pumpkins along the steps. A welcoming corner that makes coming home feel a little more special. The nursery’s seasonal offerings make it an easy stop for a fall refresh.

Make it your own: Start with a few pumpkins in different sizes and a favorite seasonal plant. You don’t need an elaborate display to create a front porch that feels warm and inviting.

It’s a simple outing, but that’s part of the appeal of living in Chattanooga: ordinary weekends can become traditions.

Add Chattanooga Oktoberfest to Your Fall Traditions

Live music, Bavarian-inspired food and a chance to shop local? That’s a pretty good recipe for a fall weekend.

Presented by the Chattanooga Market, Chattanooga Oktoberfest brings seasonal festivities to First Horizon Pavilion. The free-admission celebration features Oompah music, food, a craft biergarten and shopping from local farms and artisans.

The 2026 event took place October 17-18. If you missed it, bookmark the official website for future announcements- and consider it one more reason to keep exploring Chattanooga’s local events.

For anyone getting to know the area, events like this offer something a relocation checklist can’t: a chance to experience the community beyond the map.

Find a Little Seasonal Magic at Rock City

Fall scenery and a touch of Halloween whimsy come together at Rock City’s Enchanted Pumpkin Patch.

Located on Lookout Mountain, this seasonal experience combines garden trails, pumpkin displays and playful surprises. Visit during the day to enjoy the mountain setting, or explore the lighted displays after dark for a different atmosphere.

The 2026 Enchanted Pumpkin Patch runs September 18 through October 31 and is included with regular Rock City admission. Check the official website for tickets and visit details.

Whether you’re planning a date, hosting visiting friends or making memories with the grandkids, this is a chance to put the phone away for a while- except for a few fall photos!

Slow Down at Coolidge Park

Your fall plans don’t all need tickets or a packed itinerary.

Sometimes, the best afternoon is a walk, a river view and nowhere you need to hurry.

Coolidge Park, on Chattanooga’s North Shore, offers walking paths, open lawns and views of the Tennessee River. Nearby shops and local eateries make it easy to turn a little fresh air into an afternoon out. The park’s historic carousel adds another reason to linger.

Bring a picnic blanket, meet a friend or leave time to browse before dinner.

If you’re considering moving to Chattanooga, give yourself an afternoon like this during your visit. Explore at the pace you’d want to live. Where would you get lunch? How would you spend a free Saturday? Those everyday details matter when choosing a place to call home.

Make Halloween Memories at Boo in the Zoo

For costumes, candy and Halloween fun with a gentler spooky atmosphere, check out Boo in the Zoo at the Chattanooga Zoo.

The event includes candy stations, costume shows, character meet-and-greets, a scavenger hunt and Halloween-themed animal enrichment activities.

There’s still a 2026 event scheduled for October 31, from 4-8 p.m. Boo in the Zoo requires a separate event ticket, with timed entry, so check availability before heading out.

Pick out a costume, bring a container for candy and enjoy a seasonal outing together. These are the kinds of experiences that can become “remember when?” stories for years.
