10 Unique Chattanooga Valentine’s Day Dates

This month, our guest blog is brought to you by Chattanooga Relationship coach Brock Olsen.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and Greater Chattanooga and surrounding areas are thriving with date-worthy venues and activities to bring a bit of creativity and fun to your date nights to celebrate love all month long.

1) Candle Making

At Good Fortune Soap, you get to make your very own candles for home! During this laid back candle make experience you create your own scent and a mixologist will serve you warm wax for you to make your candles and you get to name them! This date usually lasts about an hour.

2) Antiquing With a Fun Twist

The Refindery is an eclectic mix of antique, industrial, vintage and, architectural finds. This is one of my favorite rainy days date ideas, grab a coffee at Be Caffeinated and get lost in this McCallie treasure trove! It’s such an amazing place that allows you to have fun conversations about all the amazing items that may be nostalgic to your childhood or spark your curiosity and have you asking, “what is that?”

3) Take Flight

Lookout MTN Flight Park is only 20 minutes outside of Chattanooga and offers hang gliding and paragliding flights! You and your partner take turns with a certified instructor where you get to experience breathtaking views from 1500-3000 feet above the Chattanooga valley. They also offer overnight accommodations on their resort in the form of campgrounds and cabins.

4) Flower Power

Joli Jardin Flower Farm & Shop is a gorgeous European flower market located on Main Street. You’ll know it by the eye-catching frame of flowers that surround the beautiful building. The entrance itself wows, and the services are impeccable. Joli Jardin offers the option for customers to either attend their monthly workshops that show how to create floral arrangements & wreath, or to simply bring your date and take stunning photos as you build your own bouquet together.

5) Coffee, Food, & Art In Europe…Sort of!

The Bluff View Art District is one of my favorite spots in all of Chattanooga. You’ll often feel like you’re lost in a romantic European city as you and your date walk the cobblestone sidewalks, sample fresh-baked bread, and admire the outdoor sculptures of the riverfront. Rembrandts will be your first stop as you’ll both love warming up with coffee and chocolates, and tarts. Then  indulging in handmade pasta at Tony’s, and walking around admiring the art from local artists throughout the sculpture & art garden.

6) Italian Renaissance Dining

Alleia with its low lighting, rustic interior, and beautifully presented dishes, Alleia is easily one of the most romantic restaurants in Chattanooga. My wife (who I like to think has impeccable taste since she chose me) begs to go here every date night! Start your evening with artisan cocktails and seasonal wines before moving on to elegant Italian fare that’s been handcrafted with locally sourced ingredients.

7) Immersive Dining Elegance

Zaya Korean Steakhouse takes you on a quest for a sizzling date night. Picture dim lights casting a warm glow, soft jazz melodies filling the air, and an ambiance that promises an extraordinary experience. This hidden gem seamlessly merges the elegance of a fine-dining steakhouse with the vibrant flair of Korean BBQ, setting the stage for an unparalleled evening– seize the chance to savor a perfect blend of steak and Korean BBQ elements at Zaya, crafting a date night adventure like no other.

8) South Of The Border Flavor

Taqueria Jalisco Ania is one of my and my wife’s favor spots in town for any night of the week but also for special occasions. The flavors from the kitchen feels like home cooking because they are inspired and brought to life by the owners mother who used her own recipes from whe she was a child. Enjoy their full tequila & mezcal bar and stunning ambiance that makes you feel like maybe you’re not in Chattanooga anymore.

9) The Best Cocktail Address

Whiskey Thief is one of my favorite spaces in Chattanooga as it overlooks 3 of Chattanooga’s most sought after destinations, the Hunter Museum, Walnut Street Bridge, and the Bluff View Art District. As the sun sets you and your date can enjoy over 100 kinds of whiskey for your next Old Fashioned or ask any of their master mixologists to craft you both a signature concoction that is all your own. Food menu options are provided by White bird, the hotel’s restaurant which provides locally sourced cuisine.

10) Keeping It Discreet ?

Company Chattanooga is one of my favorite speakeasy establishments in the city. Down the back alley away from prying eyes, this carefully hidden place behind a bookshelf provides a romantic ambiance that immediately takes you back to a bygone era, illuminated by Edison bulbs and candle lit copper top bar, you and your date will enjoy the cozy yet alluring atmosphere with a menu to match.

Top 2024 Home Decor Trends Combine Function and Aesthetics

The world of home furniture and decor is undergoing a transformation that embraces
both functionality and aesthetics. Here are the 2024 Home Design Trends shaping our living spaces this
year that can transform your new Pratt home into a sanctuary of style and comfort:

1. Sustainable Choices

Environmental consciousness and sustainable furniture
is more than just a trend; it’s a necessity. Expect to see an increase in eco-
friendly materials like bamboo, reclaimed wood, and recycled metals. These
pieces will not only reduce our carbon footprint but also lend a unique, rustic
charm to interiors.

2. Multi-functional Designs:

With the rise of remote work and smaller living
spaces, furniture that serves multiple purposes is gaining traction. Think modular
sofas with built-in storage or coffee tables that can be transformed into work
desks. These versatile pieces maximize space without compromising on style.

3. Minimalist Aesthetics:

The mantra “less is more” continues to dominate design.
Clean lines, neutral color palettes, and clutter-free spaces are in vogue.
Minimalist decor creates serene environments that promote relaxation and
mindfulness.

4. Tech-Integrated Furniture:

Smart homes deserve smart furniture. Expect to see
pieces equipped with wireless charging pads, built-in speakers, and LED lighting.
These innovations seamlessly blend technology with design, enhancing our lives.

5. Artisanal Craftsmanship:

In an age of mass production, 2024 Home Design Trends shine a light on furniture that
stands out for its craftsmanship and authenticity. Handcrafted pieces, be it
pottery, textiles, or furniture, add a personal touch to interiors, celebrating the
human touch in every creation.

6. Biophilic Design:

Inspired by nature, biophilic design incorporates natural
elements into our living spaces. Expect to see more indoor plants, natural
textures like stone and jute, and large windows that connect interiors with the
outdoors. This trend not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also promotes well-
being by fostering a connection with nature.

7. Color Trend: Earthy Tones and Sage Green:

This year, nature dominates the color landscape. The 2024 Home Design Trends nod to earthy hues, reminiscent of tranquil forests and sandy terrains,
evoke a sense of grounding and serenity. Complementing this palette, sage
green emerges as the color du jour, infusing spaces with a refreshing,
rejuvenating vibe.

Community Spotlight: Bainbridge

While sometimes there are some fun questions from Chatta-newcomers about how to pronounce “Ool-te-wah”, one thing there’s never uncertainty about is that it’s a great place to live!

Just 15 minutes from the TN/GA split, according to the TDOT signs, it’s been a convenient place to call “home” for many Pratt customers throughout the years. With convenience to our mid-size city of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ooltewah still offers a charm of its own. Just 10 minutes from Hamilton Place mall, the local shopping mecca, Ooltewah itself boasts a nice Publix shopping center and the ever-popular Cambridge Square, a local town square featuring local restaurants and boutiques. Many of our best-loved communities throughout the last five years have been tucked away just across the interstate for little more rural lifestyle that doesn’t sacrifice style or convenience.

The Pratt Home Builders Ooltewah community-to-watch in 2024 is Bainbridge. Just 5 minutes from Interstate access, Bainbridge is nestled between I-75 and Ooltewah-Georgetown Road for ultimate convenience. Nice and level, it’s a great place for walking with sidewalks lining both sides of the streets. The pool area will feature a pool house and plenty of lounge chairs to enjoy time with family and friends. Bainbridge offers spacious homesites that accomodate many of Pratt’s best loved home plans, thoughtfully designed by our in-house team of construction and design experts.

At this stage, Pratt customers can enjoy choosing between two options: Pre-sales, which give the opportunity to select homesite, home plan and all the finishes of your beautiful new construction home OR designer market homes, which are thoughtfully-designed by our in-house team so they offer stylish finishes without the longer timeline or having to make all the decisions.

When it comes to Pre-Sales, here are some of our beloved home plans we expect to be popular in this community in 2024:

  • Some of our favorite plans include The Emory, which can be built on many homesites at Bainbridge. The Emory is a spacious ranch home with an open kitchen and living room, with plenty of natural light along the back of the home. For customers who are looking to have everything on one level, but who still may need some extra space, this home plan is a great blend of features.
  • Another popular favorite home plan that can be built in Bainbridge is the Peachtree. The Peachtree is a two-story home with great curb appeal, offering a dining area we’ve seen many customers use as a library, office, or sitting room. It also has a spacious guest room on the main with a full bath, perfect for a teenage suite or giving visiting parents a place of their own on the first floor. A beautiful staircase brings residents to a showstopping main bedroom and spacious bathroom, complete with two additional bedrooms and the option of adding a bonus room.
  • Another great option to build at Bainbridge is the Waterford home plan, which is a main bedroom down home plan with remaining bedrooms upstairs. With a dedicated home office, dining room, and open kitchen and living room, this home plan offers style and space on the main level, with cozy additional bedrooms tucked upstairs.

For customers who prefer to leave the details to the experts, our designer market homes are a great option to for a less-involved experience for customers who need a quick-move-in or who may prefer to leave details to our experts. Below are the finishes of some homes currently available at Bainbridge. *Please note: Call to verify availability of current homes.

Locally-Sourced Restaurants in Chattanooga

The Rise of Locally-Sourced Restaurants in Chattanooga

One thing that Chattanooga isn’t short of is amazing food, that’s for sure! But another perk of living in the valley is the privilege of being surrounded by home-grown resources from our farmers. We wanted to highlight some of the farm to table restaurants around Chattanooga that pride themselves on using locally-sourced ingredients in their delectable dishes. There are so many more than what’s on this short list, but these are some we’ve tried ourselves and know they are worth sharing!

That’s right, you can actually pick up your own meats to cook at home if you’d like!

1885 Grill: Locally-Sourced Dining in St. Elmo and Ooltewah

If you haven’t heard of The Feed Table & Tavern yet, we’d be surprised! Located in the heart of downtown Chattanooga in the Southside district, The Feed offers an elevated farm-to-table experience that is greatly due to their partnerships with local farms and grocers. This is no surprise though, because The Feed was a joint-idea by the owners of 1885 Grill and Tremont Tavern which are another pair of amazing Chattanooga staples. Their restaurant space is also very versatile – whether you’re just wanting to enjoy a beer at the bar top or have a quieter space for date night or a dinner party. When you visit, make sure to try the catfish, burgers, or fried green tomatoes!

North Georgia

Farm to Fork Ringgold GA

4. Farm to Fork

Farm to Fork: North Georgia’s Hidden Gem

A local favorite that not many north of the border know about, Farm to Fork opened their 2nd location on Battlefield Parkway in Ringgold, GA in 2017. Their mission is to serve the freshest ingredients they can, with only the “ice and shrimp” being the only frozen items. Farm to Fork grows some of their own vegetables but mostly sources their ingredients from farmers in Chickamauga. Offering a traditional American-style menu, Farm to Fork is a great place to go with family or even a date night. They also often have music, trivia, and other events going on which is a perfect pairing with their delicious meals! This restaurant is not far from our community The Fields at Huntley Meadows!

Cleveland

Farm-to-fork - Aubreys Restaurant Cleveland TN

5. Aubrey’s

Aubrey’s: Community Stewardship and Local Ingredients in Cleveland

Priding themselves in ‘Community Stewardship’, Aubrey’s first started in Knoxville, TN and offers an elevated version of the southern comfort food you love while giving back to the community. Aubrey’s sources most of their ingredients locally – from vegetables, fruits, meats, to seafood. When you go, make sure to try their Grilled Salmon Tacos or Rattlesnake Pasta. Their portions are large – just how we like it in the south! They also often host events and fundraisers for local schools, teachers, and athletes. For our folks at The Trails at Freewill, make sure to check this restaurant out – you won’t be disappointed!

This community is just minutes from the interestate, off the corner of Candies Lane and Freewill Road. Pratt + HabiChatt: Women Build Team Kicks Off Fundraising

Pratt Home Builders is looking forward to partnering with HabiChatt again on Women Build. This year’s future homeowner is Tanieshia Looney. This is an event the ladies (and men) of Pratt Home Builders look forward to participating in every year. “We love having the opportunity to put in some good old fashioned elbow grease to help real people in our community. It’s one thing to donate to a cause, but another to really get on eye level with people and hear their stories and be part of them. That’s what is so special about our team. They are truly passionate about helping people right here at home,” said Brittany Shaw, Director of Digital Media.

“Tanieshia Looney, mother of two and Chattanooga native, has consistently worked on making her dreams of becoming a homeowner a reality. Growing up in public housing, she had a happy childhood with her mom, dad, and brother. She was close with her family and played softball all through grade school and college. The one thing that was missing was a home that they could call their own. She was first introduced to Habitat through friends who had become homeowners themselves. After applying and ultimately dropping out of the program due to illness 13 years ago, Tanieshia is back and more determined than ever to step up to the plate of becoming a Habitat homeowner herself. Tanieshia was drawn to apply due to the partnership that Habitat provides. Instead of throwing her to the wolves of homeownership, she was happy to have Habitat walk the journey with her and become a shoulder to lean on. One of her favorite parts of being in the program is the ability to experience it with her children, Anthony and A’Nieshia. They have been given the opportunity to build their home as a family and create memories that will
last a lifetime. Tanieshia has learned many new valuable skills throughout the program, but the lessons on money management have meant the most to her. She has learned how to make smarter choices financially, so much that her mother continuously tells her how proud she is of the changes she has made. Tanieshia views her
mother as the strongest person she knows, she inspires her everyday to “finish everything that
she starts” which has given her the motivation to complete the program. When envisioning her new home, Tanieshia is looking forward to creating a peaceful environment with a stable foundation for her children. Being a mom
with a full time job, a baseball and basketball coach, and a successful hair business, things can occasionally get hectic. She strives to create a positive environment for her children to grow and thrive in.”
